Great Tips To Help Select The Menu For A Bridal Shower

By: Alex De Mostafa

Choosing the menu for a bridal shower can be enjoyable or frightening, depending on what type of party is planned and the types of people involved. You are fortunate in that there is a vast assortment of appropriate foods that you may use, making meeting everyone's needs much less challenging than you expected. You already have several factors at your disposal which will assist in the decision: the bride, the attendees, and your financial resources.

Obviously, the preferences of the bride will come before all other considerations. After all, she is not going to have a very good time if the foods offered are not items she will partake of and enjoy. She may have subtly mentioned items that she would like to see served, or you may know what she likes to eat. This will make choosing a menu easier. As the bridal shower host, you probably are a friend who has spent enough time with her to know her food preferences.

The next item to consider is the guest list. There are of couple of things to be concerned with. First off, consideration of the bride's tastes should not override the guests entirely. No one will have a good time at the party which caters only to the tastes of the bride. And, when it's over, you will be left with quite a few starving individuals. If you have discovered that no one but the bride will enjoy her first choice, you need to think about taking that item from the menu and moving on to the next choice. The other concern is meeting individual needs.

You should know if any guests suffer from food allergies or have particular dietary concerns. It would be a mistake to have the menu dominated with sweets while knowing that there will be diabetics present. Serving a menu with all meat items to a vegetarian would be equally as bad. Ensuring a varied menu will allow everyone to find something that appeals to them.

A big consideration will be the amount of money you are willing to spend on the food for the shower. If your budget will only allow tuna and apple cider, it doesn't matter if the bride would prefer caviar and champagne. You can try to develop the menu using foods that you might typically purchase for your family. While you may purchase some things for special happenings, do not have items which you would not purchase for any occasion.

Preparing a bridal shower's menu is quite like planning a menu for any other type of home party which you may have. You need to provide special attention to the tastes of the guest of honor, the bride. You also want to accommodate the guests with food that they will enjoy while making allowance for any special situations. Don't lose sight of your budget constraints, and buy food items that your finances will accommodate without leaving yourself short for necessary items. Planning a bridal shower is difficult enough at times without adding too many complications to planning how and what to feed the guests.
