Organising the groom's stag party can be a gruelling chore, but at the same time it is of course an honour. It does however put quite a large amount of pressure on the organiser to prepare an event that people will remember for the right reasons, not for the wrong ones.

There are several areas that need to be attended to when planning for your party, firstly how long will it be. The fashion in recent times is for a weekend of activities or at the very least a day of activities followed by food, beer and what ever else springs to mind.

It is important to sound out the majority of your group regarding budget as you want everyone to enjoy themselves and not feel obligated to join in against their will.

It is advisable to have any dangerous activities or those that involve driving planned for the Saturday, so that on the Sunday, the more easy-going and gentler activities can help nurse the hangovers.

Preferably you would use a venue that runs several activities in one location, making the overall organisation much easier because you will only need to talk with one venue. Also, a multi-activity venue such as this is likely to have connections with local hotels, clubs and restaurants etc. simplifying your search dramatically.

To give an underlying theme to the whole weekend and you're not just stringing together a load of random activities, it is a good idea to have a light competition running throughout the events. This competition will need to be arranged so that everyone in the party has an equal chance of winning. A good way to achieve this is to somehow handicap the people who you know are good at certain events to allow the newbies to play with equal ability. This will create a positive and friendly atmosphere even among the guests who don't know each other all that well.

It is also worth considering that as the average age for getting married rises, so the relative athleticism decreases so you may well have many people in their prime as well as some older less mobile guests, for this reason it is important to choose activities that everyone can take part in, as the weekend will be far more successful.

It is true that there is often a fine line to draw between choosing activities that a few really enjoy and activities that the masses can all enjoy, but it is well worth taking a little time to choose something suitable for all. It is also a good idea to split the evening entertainment so that the older guests can enjoy dinner but then depart if they wish before the younger members of your party continue on to a club.
