Making Your Wedding Unforgettable With Wedding Sparklers

By: Laura Hardy

When getting married, every bride tries her best to take traditional ideas and make them modern and unique. Once of the most classic events at a wedding is throwing rice above the bride and groom as they run to the getaway car. This symbolic event was for family, friends, and guests to shower prosperity and good luck on the bride and groom as they departed and began their lives together. Rice was particularly important as it symbolized a “full pantry.” A few new spin-offs of throwing rice have been the throwing flower petals and blowing bubbles, but one idea has emerged as an even more popular idea—wedding sparklers.

Sparklers were once only thought of as children’s entertainment on the 4th of July, but sparklers have found their way into the wedding scene as well. As one of the hottest new ideas in weddings, sparklers make an old tradition new and exciting. Creating a bridge of sparklers for the bride and groom to walk under to get out to their getaway car creates a memorable event as well as a picture-perfect moment. Contrary to what many people think, as long as the sparkler event is planned out beforehand, it is not difficult to get everyone’s sparklers lit in time for the bride and groom’s departure. Having someone in charge or handing out the sparklers and someone in charge of lighting the sparklers, such as a parent or wedding coordinator makes the lighting process simple and hassle-free. Sparklers last over three minutes which provides enough time for all the sparklers to be lit and the getaway complete. You may choose to have one solid color or multiple colored sparklers lining the runway. The most popular colors for sparklers are gold and white—fantastic wedding themed colors.

There are so many other ways to use sparklers at your wedding other than using them on the runway out to your getaway car. You may decide to use them in your wedding ceremony lining the aisle as the bride walks down to the groom. What a fantastic way to highlight the bridal march! Or you may decide to use them in the reception at important moments during the night. Lighting sparklers in the wedding cake as you make the first cut and take the first bite would be a spectacular idea! You might want to consider having guests wave lit sparklers during your first dance as a married couple. Sparklers are extremely inexpensive and safe to use inside, just like a candle. You may want to leave a door or small window open for any smoke to escape through, but the smoke from the sparklers should be very minimal. Another creative idea might be to pass them out with your party favors especially if you decide to use them in your ceremony, reception, or getaway—what a memorable event!

Sparklers can be used in creative ways to make your event unforgettable. Brides are always looking for that special way to make their wedding stand out—this is a fantastic way to do just that!
