Planning A Wedding On A Budget - Make Your Dream Wedding Come True With Your Limited Budget

By: Carolyn Anderson

Weddings can be costly. It involves a lot of little things that may be expensive. From wedding rings to dresses, to the little details of the flowers, the centerpieces, the ribbons... indeed, weddings do not only require meticulous preparations but also require a good budget. However, dream weddings do not always mean expensive weddings. Yes, it's true that you have to spend for weddings but how about planning a wedding on a budget?

If you are planning a wedding on a budget, here are some useful tips to cut cost on your wedding celebration.

1. Plan early. If you want to save from spending too much on your wedding, planning early would work to your advantage. You can plan as early as one year before. You can have a listing of reception venues, ask about their rates and if you book early, for sure you can get discounts. Planning early will also allow you to choose from many venues according to your budget.

2. Cut down the guest list. A wedding is a family affair. You do not have to invite old acquaintances that you have never seen lately, or old friends in college, or distant relatives you have never seen for a long time.

3. Make use of family talent. If you have relatives or good friends who are good entertainers, you can ask them to host your reception party.

4. At times, the family of the bride or the groom will offer to shoulder some cost like the catering, so you and your fiance can talk to your families about it. If one of your families can sponsor the catering, that would be a great savings on your budget.

5. Wise choice of time and day. The time and day of your wedding is important if you are planning a wedding on a budget. Mornings can be a good time for weddings, as you will not be spending too much for food and beverages unlike dinner. You may also want to avoid Saturday nights, as it is often a choice of most weddings.

6. Make your own wedding invitations. If you have the creativity, put that into good use by making your own wedding invitations and thank you cards. You can get to choose your own stationery, make your own design and save more. There are also lots of DIY resources and some brilliant ideas on wedding invitations that you can find on the internet, so this is actually a good step for those planning a wedding on a budget.

7. Plan your own wedding. It can be a little stressful but if you plan early and you get help from good friends, it can be one great way to cut cost on professional wedding planners. You can also ask favors from relatives to take charge of the entourage and the rehearsals.

8. Borrow a ride. You will not be spending too much time on that rented Limousine anyway, so you can call a friend and check if his car is available on your wedding day.

9. Save from wedding favors. Think about something that is not too expensive but rather memorable.

10. Separate the 'necessary' from the 'optional'. If you are planning a wedding on a budget, you might actually find things that are optional choices, so you can also minimize these choices.
