Planning For A Successful Wedding- Tips To Avoid Disappointment

By: Audrey Lynn

Wedding planning can be some of the most exciting days of your life. It can also be some of the most stressful days of your life! There are so many things to think about as you get ready for your big day. Trying to keep yourself calm and collected can be difficult if you are getting ready for your big day. Today, we are going to discuss a few of the most important tasks you don't want to forget as you prepare for the biggest day of your life.

There are several tasks you want to identify early in the process. Have you set your date? You need to decide when you are going to have your wedding before you can do anything. There are many different theories floating around about the best time of year to have your wedding. Only you can decide when you want to get married, but I would encourage you to think outside the box on the date. Most people want to get married in the spring or the summer time. While this is a popular time for many couples, I would encourage you to think about other times of year to get married. I actually believe the best time of year to get married is a few weeks before Christmas, or in the middle of winter! There are many advantages to getting married during winter. It is much cheaper to get married this time of year because hotel rates are cheaper, churches are not as high in demand, and you can book the church and wedding reception areas that you really want. You won't be competing with a thousand other couples who are using the same churches and reception halls for their weddings.

Once you decide the date, you need to determine how many people to invite to your wedding. You and your spouse may have a lot to talk about here. For some people with larger families, you may need to have a larger wedding. People in public positions with a lot of influence over a lot of people will likely need to have larger weddings too. Everyone is going to come from different circumstances, so you need to be willing to compromise with your spouse in this area. Go ahead and make a list of everyone you would like to invite, and see how many people you have on your list. Remember that not everyone on your list is going to come to your wedding. Out of the 180 people invited to my wedding, only about 130 actually showed up.

You can now decide on your wedding site and reception hall. I recommend choosing locations that are close together. You do not want your guests to drive 40 miles between your wedding and reception hall. Once you decide on the locations of everything, you want to start getting yourself organized. Make sure you get a wedding planner that helps remind you of everything you need to do before the wedding. I recommend getting a book that discusses all of the important aspects of your wedding.
