Save Money Getting Married, Don't Go Bankrupt!

By: Sebastian Marders

You're on your way to the white chapel and you want all your wishes to come true, but you have to stay in a small budget. This is a dilemma that many people getting married have to deal with. But do not fret, here's a few different ways you can still have your fantasy ceremony and not go broke.

1. Get your notepad out and make that list of what is your top priority. Where is the wedding going to be? What kinds of flowers do you want? Do you need a lot of flowers? How many people will you invite? What kind of food do you want to serve? Figure out what is important to you instead of only it being what you wish you could have or want, cause it could really hurt your pocket. If you want the best of some things, of course, make yourself happy, but just be aware that you may have to give up something else.

2. This is a tough thing to do but it must happen. Your guest list has to be brought down. I know you have some cousins and people you rarely ever see or hear from on your list somewhere. Each guest can cost quite a bit when added up so cutting them will definitely trim down you overall budget. Don't invite people that may attend simply cause they feel an obligation rather than someone who would be hurt by not being invited. Think of the people who are really quite close to you in your current life. Don't invite the whole family just because you are related. Invite them cause you want them to be apart of your special day.

3. Make your bridal party smaller. It's a tradition that you get good gifts for all the people in your wedding party and they are typically invited with their dates to the rehearsal dinner. All the bridal party and the groomsmen including their dates could end up being over fourty meals to pay for. So think carefully of who you want and need to be your bridesmaids.

4. A hotel wedding would allow for many ways to save money. By having your wedding ceremony and reception there you can ask for a better rate and get the largest discounts. You can even get discounts on rooms for your friends and family on the guest list. By reserving the rooms in advance long before the wedding you can get better rates and this will save money for your guests as well.

5. Everyone has some fairly skilled and talented friends around that could possibly help out by making some invites by hand or know how to design something on the computer. This could save a lot of money. Also choosing simple yet beautiful flowers for the wedding that don't have to be arranged in a complex way to appear fancy and sophisticated. Someone who naturally has really good handwriting ability could write the addresses on the invites. A simple wedding program made on card stock on the computer or just home style cut outs and glue with ribbons attached could really be quite charming.
