Tips For Arranging Your Honeymoon

By: Lawrence J. Reaves

The romance novels have an idyllic wedding topped off with the bride and groom dashing away and off into the sunset to a honeymoon that is packed full of romance, relaxation and each other to the exclusion of all else!

Come back to earth right now in order to arrange the perfect honeymoon there is a lot of work, organization and effort involved and it does not happen as if by magic unless you really do have a Fairy Godmother.

A honeymoon is your reward after a very hectic schedule and a very busy day with your wedding; for many their wedding day is a day they will never forget but it is also a very busy day and a very stressful one for both the bride and groom. After all of this, a honeymoon is certainly in order and is when the happy couple can get away and be together for a vacation which should be as special for them as getting married itself.

Before you set off for your honeymoon, think about booking hotel accommodation which is close to your reception venue; this allows you to retire conveniently and get some rest and avoids the need for traveling long distances which may curtail how long you can spend with guests at the reception. You also will have other practicalities to attend to such as making sure your luggage is safe and not about to get lost!

Ask if the venue where you are holding the reception provide a complimentary or discounted honeymoon suite; many quality venues will provide a great deal on you and your guests staying overnight and this is not uncommon. Whatever you decide, it is also a good idea to keep your post-nuptial destination and accommodations to yourself to prevent uninvited guests or pranksters!

The start of your honeymoon actually signals the start of married life together; it is the certain, definite commencement of life together and an opportunity to unwind after the stress of preparing to be wed and now you simply have each other. Just as you have learned to compromise over so many things in your wedding preparations, you should also discuss what both of you want to do with this honeymoon period and come up with a vacation which works for both of you.

You do not need to restrict yourself to a beach holiday somewhere exotic; many couples come up with a bedazzling array of alternatives which ideally suit them such as touring Civil War battlefield sites, city travel, staying at home, going abroad or even leaving the honeymoon until after the wedding is over and getting back to work (hopefully this is not you!).

Whatever you decide, it should be a vacation break you are both happy with; this is a very important time away from everyone and you simply have each other. Obviously, what you choose for a honeymoon will be determined by your budget and work and family considerations will heavily influence how far and for how long you go away.
