Wedding Planning: Choosing Bouquets, Flowers, and Photographers

By: Buddy Payne

The moment you pinpoint the colors you intend to make use of for decorating your wedding, picking out the flowers should be rather easy. If you elect a single color or flower to be notable in your bouquet, such as all-blue flowers such as anemone or hyacinth, it will make both a fashionable and fetching impression for your ceremony and wedding party decoration.

On the other hand, the configuration which you may fancy for the flowers (i.e., an arch at the altar, special design for tables) might present a little more of a quandary. Therefore, whilst you hunt for flower arrangements, you should invite a couple of people along to help you choose assemblages.

And, if you see an arrangement you like, a bouquet you'd love to carry, or come up with something in the floral shop that you think may work, make sure you have a camera with you, so you can take photos. After all, with all the other things on your mind when it comes to planning a wedding, you won't be able to remember every single detail.

Another consideration for your wedding flowers are silk flowers. Even though whole arrangements may be a little more expensive depending on where you purchase them from, they last much longer, and you don't have to worry about the flowers wilting over time. Using silk flowers for the bridesmaids bouquet or for the flower girls is also a good idea.

Many people have allergies, and holding fresh flowers right in front of their faces for an hour or two could cause occasional sneezing and nose-scratching. These are not images you want in your wedding photos or wedding video!

Photos are another important aspect of your wedding planning. Start by deciding on the style of photos you want for your wedding ahead of time, so that you can choose the right photographer for the ceremony. When you're considering a photographer, make sure to look at his/her portfolio so that you can get an idea of the photographers work, and determine how much experience he or she has with wedding photos.

Most photographers will try to capture moments in the ceremony in which members of the wedding party have to be in certain positions, such as when the rings are presented, when the bride and groom are kneeling at the altar or lighting candles, or when the bride is being given away by her father.

If you want more of a natural or contemporary look to your photos, it's best to hire a photographer with photojournalism experience. Your wedding photos won't look staged, and you'll clearly be able to see the genuine moments in each photo.

A photojournalism photographer will use the flow of events to determine which pictures to capture; there will be lots of individual shots of the reactions of guests, or special moments shared between the husband and wife.

Upon first looking at the proofs of your wedding photographs, narrowing the shots down to the ones you really want might seem daunting. Make your selection process easier by choosing photos with varying poses and surroundings. Also, choose a mix of shots, where some are planned and posed while others give the impression of being impromptu and natural.

In addition to professional wedding pictures, if your friends and family members take snapshots during your wedding affair, be sure to ask for doubles of several of the photos, so that you fill your wedding photo album with a combination of both professional and regular photos. Those pictures can also help bring to mind cheerful recollections when you flip through your photo album.
