There is huge pressure on young people to spend vast sums of money on their wedding but it really isn't necessary; deciding to have a cheap wedding does not mean it cannot be enjoyable for everyone. Almost never considered are the costs associated with the hand made wedding dress; many brides sell their dress soon after they are married and this is a sensible way to reduce the cost. The wedding reception is normally the biggest expense and where costs can get out of hand; with an average of just under two hundred guests attending it is easy to see how you can reduce the financial burden for your cheap wedding. You can reduce the number of people attending by not inviting those who are only at the periphery of your life which can include distant relatives; when it comes to the meal, instead a four course silver service, why not arrange a hot or cold buffet.

If you intend holding the wedding reception in an expensive hotel then stop and look at the available options; consider holding it at a club perhaps or even book a restaurant where you can keep an open bar to a minimum by only serving beer, wine and soft drinks.

Although many photographers are employed for the entire day, this isn't really necessary; the majority of guests are more than happy to take photos on behalf of the couple, and they will be 'natural' shots as well! If you really want to be 'avant guard', why pay for a photographer at all; these days most people know someone who is a keen, capable amateur photographer, and there is nothing wrong with asking them to take photos throughout the whole day.

With the correct programs, all the work can be checked fully before it is printed out; this means that often costly errors and adjustments that are often required in the early stages of the work are not made.

Cost cutting measures can also be found in the area of flowers and their arrangement; these can actually be purchased in large quantities from wholesalers or even from your own garden if you have the capacity. If possible, try and get a friend to make your wedding cake for you; cakes do not have to be the traditional fruit so try a sponge cake with a chocolate flavor filling for example.

The Wedding Limousine

A friend's car could be used as the transportation to the ceremony to make further savings; many have very nice cars and it makes a pleasant change.

Measures like this could mean that the savings made on a cheap wedding can be invested in a new home; something much longer lasting.
